In this album, with the help of Frédéric Iriarte’s musical settings, both poet & composer combine their talents to provide an elevated experience.
Drawn from 26 new monologues the collaborators bring some of Parcelli’s many characters to an energetic life.
In the voices of the historical underdog & the unknown, Iriarte & Parcelli fling uncompromising language & music into the face of convention.
From the French medical anomaly Tarrare to Whitman’s lover Peter Doyle; from Nietzsche’s Butcher to Henry Kissinger’s limo driver; from Swift’s affectionate & comic letter to his friend Alexander Pope to Odysseus’s Helmsman, Eurylochus; from Barry the Baptist on Julian Assange & the free press to Lazarus furiously indicting his nephew Jesus, the unremitting energy and heuristic power of these works never flags.

* Carlo Parcelli (author) Beat Poet Laureate USA State of Maryland (2017-2019)
Carlo Parcelli studied and worked for many years with the Joyce/Wake scholar, Dr. Rudd Fleming, who translated Greek drama with Ezra Pound while Pound was incarcerated at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, DC.
He has published two books in the style of Pound’s Cantos, ‘Three Antiphonies’ and ‘Fernparallelismus’.

He has also published a series of 88 monologues, ‘The Gospel According to Simon Kananaios: A Meditation on Empire’ based on the Anglo/Welsh poet David Jones’ monologues of a Roman principalis in his volume ‘The Sleeping Lord’.
Carlo has a forthcoming epic poem about a fictitious First Century Roman cynic philosopher called ‘Canus Ictus in Exilium’ (Dog Bite in Exile).
His work, generally excerpted, has appeared in a number of journals including Exquisite Corpse, Make It New, Brave New Word and Science as Culture.
He has performed his work, especially ‘The Gospel’ at dozens of venues including the Boog Poetry Festival, The National Beat Poetry Festival, The Bowery Poetry Club and Busboys and Poets in Washington, DC.
He is currently an editor at Flashpoint magazine : www.flashpointmag.com
